MATCH REVIEW: Inter Miami CF secures a draw at home against Charlotte FC

Inter Miami was at the forefront from the start and created opportunities in attack. The first big chance came in the eighth minute when Gómez brought Messi into play behind Charlotte's defensive line, but the Argentine's shot was saved.

Later in the half, Messi and Suárez had further chances, but the hosts missed the goal. In the 34th minute, Messi played a perfect through ball behind the defense for Suárez, and the striker cut to his right and shot towards goal, but the ball went wide. Just a few moments later, Messi caused danger again by firing a low shot at the near post from the edge of the penalty area, but it went just wide.

However, just 12 minutes into the second half, Charlotte struck first with a ball from Brandt Bronico, which Karol Swiderski deflected in front of the goal and fired into the net for a 0-1 lead.

Not to be outdone, the hosts made an important change by introducing Matías Rojas, marking his return from injury and increasing the pressure. The reward came in the 67th minute; With a simple series of passes, Busquets played the ball to Weigandt, who then pushed a ball to the top of the penalty area where Messi met it, took a few touches past the defense and curled the shot past the goalkeeper and into the post for the equalizer. The goal was Messi's 15th in MLS this season and 17th in all competitions, while the assist was his third for Weigandt and the second assist for Busquets took his tally in MLS to seven in 2024.
