Michigan Football TE Colston Loveland out for USC game

The Michigan Wolverines' Week 4 injury report was just released, and star tight end Colston Loveland — who left last week's game against Arkansas State with an apparent arm injury — is officially out for tonight's game against USC.

Here is the full injury report.

Out of

  • S Rod Moore
  • S Jaden Mangham
  • LB Micah Pollard
  • LB Jason Hewlett
  • RB Jordan Marshall
  • TE Colston Loveland

Questionable

  • Quarterback Jack Tuttle
  • Linebacker Jimmy Rolder

Loveland being out for this game is very damaging for the Wolverines. Head coach Sherrone Moore said earlier this week the injury wasn't as bad as coaches initially thought, but it was at least serious enough that the coaching staff will not use him today. Marlin Klein and Hogan Hansen are expected to fill in in Loveland's absence today, along with tight end/H-back Max Bredeson, of course.

In the meantime, it's a shame that Marshall remains out with an unspecified injury. He was highly praised before the season and was on the field as a kick returner in Week 2 against Texas. The coaching staff really likes him, so hopefully he can get back to playing in the near future. But for now, we expect a big helping of Donovan Edwards and Kalel Mullings at the running back position, as well as Benjamin Hall as the RB3.

Finally, wide receiver Tyler Morris is no longer on the injured list and appears to be good to go today. Morris was listed as questionable on last week's injured list and ended up sitting out for Arkansas State. He will be needed to give new starting quarterback Alex Orji a better chance at success in the passing game.

Michigan vs. USC begins at 3:30 p.m. on CBS.
