Miranda Lambert's interview gets awkward when Shelton's song plays

Well, that shouldn't have happened. Miranda Lambert was in the middle of an interview when her ex-husband Blake Shelton showed up.

But it was even worse.

Shelton's song “God Gave Me You” began playing during a segment of Last weekend with Theo Von. It wasn't intentional, which just made it one few less cumbersome.

  • Lambert and Shelton divorced in 2015 after four years of marriage.
  • “God Gave Me You” was their wedding song.
  • Media outlets are typically asked not to ask Lambert about Shelton in interviews.

Von, the show's host, simply remembered old radio shows and landed on the Cryin', Lovin' or Leavin' Show. To take it a step further, he asked his producer to start a clip.

He did so, claiming to play the first clip he stumbled upon. After navigating through Taste of Country sister station WYRK on Buffalo's website, he pressed play and… well, see for yourself:

We've confirmed that this soundbite is indeed the first one that appears in Google searches. So we assume it was just a coincidence.

Lambert believed Von too.

“Perfect,” she says at that moment and laughs hysterically. “That was actually perfect… My first wedding song, guys, let’s play that.”

Brooks & Dunn, Post Malone and Luke Combs are other recent country guests Last weekend with Theo Von.

Lambert conducts interviews to support her new boyfriend Postcards from Texas Album. She is currently married to Brendan McLoughlin. In fact, as of this year, this union has lasted longer than her marriage to Shelton. She also talks about McLoughlin during her interview with Theo Von.

IMAGES: Check out Miranda Lambert's rural Tennessee estate

Miranda Lambert paid $3.4 million in 2016 for her rural estate an hour south of Nashville, which includes 400 acres of lush green farmland. The property includes rolling hills, rustic living spaces and a huge horse stable, as well as three residences, a lake with boathouse and a six-bay garage. There are 75 acres of fenced pastureland, as well as lighted walking trails that wind through the forest and lead to a 60-seat pavilion for private concerts.
