Mittelstadt gets 3 assists, Avalanche holds on, beats the Senators and secures their fifth win in a row

Nikolai Kovalenko, Josh Manson, Logan O'Connor, Ross Colton and Nathan MacKinnon each scored a goal for the Avalanche (5-4-0), who rattled off five straight wins after losing their first four games of the season.

MacKinnon and Cale Makar each extended their season-opening points streak to nine games, and Justus Annunen made 26 saves in his fourth straight start.

Claude Giroux scored two goals and Nick Cousins ​​had a goal and an assist for the Senators (4-4-0), who have suffered two straight losses. Anton Forsberg made 25 saves.

Giroux scored again at 19:50 when Forsberg brought in the extra attacker to make the final score 5-4.
