Defending champion Derek Lunsford leads a number of bodybuilders in competition at the 2024 Mr. Olympia event in Las Vegas this weekend.

The 31-year-old will face a number of talented competitors, including former champions, one all-time great and several young stars looking to cement their status as the future of the sport.

Friday, October 11th: Mr. Olympia preliminary decision (6 p.m.)

Saturday, October 12th: Mr. Olympia final (7 p.m.)

Prize money has not yet been announced, but total prize money is expected to exceed $1.6 million, the highest in the event's history.

With Nick Walker unexpectedly late dropping out of this year's competition, the field of participants has become even more unpredictable than it already was.

Lunsford are the defending champions and Choopan had a wonderful competition two years ago. Both could win another Mr. Olympia title on Saturday night in Las Vegas.

Brandon Curry won the event in 2019, placing second twice (2020 and 2021) and fourth twice (2022 and 2023).

Obiekea, better known as Andrew Jacked, lives up to his nickname and Dauda has been chasing the most important title in bodybuilding for some time.

Any of these five participants, and probably two or three others, could realistically win the event.

Still, Lunsford and Choopan are at the top of their profession. Everyone has worked to improve important parts of their body. And after a second place finish last year, the Iranian is ready for a second title.
