National voting intention for the US presidential election (October 6, 2024)

The latest voting intention poll for the US presidential election from Redfield & Wilton strategies Kamala Harris leads Donald Trump by 2% nationallyunchanged from our latest national US voting intention survey released last week.

After weighting based on the probability of voting stated by the respondents themselves, 48% (-) of Americans say they will vote for Kamala Harris, while 46% (-) say they will vote for Donald Trump. Meanwhile, another 4% (-) say they are still unsure how they will vote.

5% (-3) of Trump 2020 voters now say they will vote for Harris, and 8% (-4) of Biden 2020 voters now say they will vote for Trump. Donald Trump retains the support of 91% (+4) of those who voted for him in 2020, while 88% (+3) of those who voted for Joe Biden in the last presidential election say they will vote for Kamala Harris .

The economy (62%), abortion (38%), and immigration (36%) are the top three responses when American voters are asked to identify the issues most likely to determine how they will vote in the presidential election.

The economy is the top-chosen issue for likely Trump voters (76%), while for the first time in our survey abortion (58%) has overtaken the economy (55%) as the top-selected issue for likely Harris voters.

Other key issues among likely Trump voters include: immigration (61%), Government spending (25%) and abortion (20%), while 42% of likely Harris voters are voting HealthcareSelect 25% the environmentand select 20% Housing.

When asked who was more likely to win the presidential election between Harris and Trump, he replied: 42% (-3) of respondents say they think Kamala Harris is more likely to winas opposed to 38% (+1) who believe Donald Trump is more likely to win. 12% (+2) believe the race will be a back-and-forth race.

46% of Americans disapprove (+3) and 41% approve (-) of President Joe Biden's overall job performance as president. His net approval rating (-5%) is down three points compared to our previous national poll last week.

Vice President Kamala Harris's net approval rating is +5% (-3)..

45% approve (-) and 40% disapprove (+3) of her performance as vice president.

Finally, 43% (+3) of Americans think the Biden administration is incompetent, while 37% (+2) think it is competent. 13% (-2) consider the current government to be neither competent nor incompetent.
