FRIDAY, OCT. 25

FCA GOLF TOURNAMENT

The FCA golf tournament features course games with baseball teeing, hula hooping and mulligans. The cost is $500 for a foursome or $125 for an individual.

The tournament takes place in a scramble format, check-in is at 7:30 a.m. Meals will be provided as well as prizes for first through third place for the longest ride.

NEVADA DAY POW WOW

The Nevada Day Pow Wow takes place at the Multi-Purpose Athletic Center Facility (1860 Russell Way) on Fridays at 7 p.m., Saturdays at 2 and 7 p.m., and Sundays at noon. This public event features Native American/First Nations dance and song. There are also a variety of craft and food vendors on site. The event is free and open to the public.

CARSON MALL ACTIVITIES

The Carson Mall parking lot will remain closed for a weekend of fun and festivities.

Friday, October 25: Start the celebration with live music at Bella Vita Bistro with Dale Poune from 5:15 to 8:30 p.m. Afterwards we head to Jennifer Grant at the Nashville Social Club at 5:30 p.m. No entry fee!

HISTORIC EAST SIDE TOUR

Join Bernie Allen and Donna McLaren on Friday at 10 a.m. for a two-mile walking tour of Carson City's historic east side.

The free tour begins at the Capitol steps and continues to the site of the former children's home. The tour also includes a visit to the site of the former V&T Railroad stores as well as many other historic locations.

Fly fishing tie

The Carson Fly Fishing Club is hosting a tie-a-thon on Friday, tying flies for charity.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Silver City RV Resort, 3165 US 395 N. in Minden

NEVADA STATE MUSEUM

The Nevada State Museum offers free admission on Fridays and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

On Saturday, coin minting demonstrations and informative lectures will take place at the historic Mint Press No. 1 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Vouchers for 999 fine silver planlets weighing half an ounce will be sold in the museum shop from 11 a.m

The Friends of the Nevada State Museum will serve hot chocolate and baked goods during the parade.

NEVADA STATE RAILROAD MUSEUM

The Nevada State Railroad Museum offers free admission on Fridays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

As a special treat on Nevada Day weekend, the museum will operate the McKeen Motor Car; Fare is $8 for children 12 and older, $4 for children 4-11 and museum members, and free for children 3 and under.

McKeen Car Rides operate daily from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The museum is located at 2180 S. Carson St. For information: carsonrailroadmuseum.org.

NEVADA PANCAKE BREAKFAST AT GOVERNOR'S MANSION

The Carson City Republican Women's Club will host its pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. No reservation required; Price is $7 for adults and $3 for children 10 and under.

BREAKFAST AT RED'S

Visit Red's Old 395 from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on parade day and enjoy the Metcalf Way Nevada Day breakfast buffet. Early bird tickets are $8 in advance or $10 at the door.

ENCHANTED STORYBOOK TRAIN

All aboard the Enchanted Storybook Train in Mills Park. The trips take place on Saturdays from 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 for all ages and can be purchased online at https://www.wildhorsetheater.com/.

35TH ANNUAL NEVADA DAY CLASSIC

This year's parade will feature the return of the 35th annual Nevada Day Classic, a road course through the streets of west Carson City.

The race begins and ends on Curry Street in McFadden Square. Costumes are expressly desired.

BALLOON LAUNCH

Watch the hot air balloons launch from Fairview to downtown Carson Street starting at 8 a.m. (weather permitting).

SELLER PLACE

Support official Nevada Day vendors at the first-ever Nevada Day Vendor Plaza. The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. behind McFadden Plaza, 200 S. Curry St., and will feature local artists and businesses as well as food trucks.

NEVADA DAY PARADE

The 86th annual Nevada Day Parade begins at 10 a.m. The event is the largest statehood celebration in the country.

STEWART INDIAN SCHOOL CULTURAL CENTER & MUSEUM

Visit the Stewart Indian School Cultural Center & Museum on Saturday.

The cultural center and museum are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Dale Bennett of the Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California, who attended Stewart Indian School from 1969 to 1973, will conduct a beading demonstration.

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP SINGLE JACK DRILLING COMPETITION

The World Championship Single Jack Drilling Contest will be held starting at 11 a.m. in the Carson Mall parking lot, 1313 S. Carson St.

Participants drill as deep and quickly as possible into a 4,320-pound piece of Sierra White granite using 4.5-pound hammers and a 3/4-inch steel drill bit. They have 10 minutes to drill, and their only help is a helper who runs water into the hole to clear up rockfalls.

The deepest hole wins. The competition has its roots in Comstock mining, when blast holes for dynamite were punched into ore bodies by hand.

NEVADA DAY BEARD CONTEST

Hosted by Cipriani's Downtown Barber Shop and Paradise Salon–Spa–Wellness. The competition will take place immediately following the parade on the main stage in McFadden Plaza. There is no entry fee; The competition is open to anyone with a beard.

Award categories include Best Overall; longest; fullest; reddest; whitest; blackest; best salt and pepper; best maintained; most unkempt; and bearded community.

USAF MOBILITY BAND PERFORMANCE

The Carson City Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the seven-member USAF Mobility Band, which will begin its show Saturday at about 2:30 p.m. on the McFadden Plaza Stage. Parade goers will see her on the VFW float this year.

FALL FESTIVAL AT CARSON NUGGET

The Carson Nugget will host the Fall Festival at Arlington Square, 507 N. Carson St., from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., where attendees can shop local artisans, food trucks, local businesses, candy, raffles and more.

CARSON MALL

NEVADA TEA FESTIVAL

The Nevada Tea Festival takes place Saturday at Casino Fandango. Classes start at 10 a.m. and the exhibition hall opens at 12 p.m. Admission is $10.

ANNUAL CHILI FEED

The 40th Annual Chili Feed will be held in the Sierra Room at the Carson Nugget, 507 N. Carson St., from noon to 2 p.m. Entry is free.

CAPITAL CITY COMMUNITY BAND

The Capital City Community Band opens its 46th concert season with a free concert of patriotic and Halloween favorites Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Amphitheater on the Legislative Mall in Carson City (weather permitting). The concert is free. Parents are asked to bring their children, lawn chairs or a blanket.

TOURS OF THE GOVERNOR'S MANSION

This year, tours of the Governor's Mansion will also take place from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m

CELEBRATION AFTER THE PARADE

A post-parade celebration with vendors and live music will take place at Telegraph, Curry and Proctor Streets from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Live music by Reckless Envy takes place on Proctor Street at Jimmy G's.

SUNDAY, OCT. 27

POST NEVADA DAY TRASH MOB

Meet at 8 a.m. in the parking lot at Third and Curry Streets to help clean up downtown the day after the parade.

CCHS NEVADA DAY EXHIBITION

Join the Carson City Historical Society on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. for a Nevada Day historical exhibit at the Foreman-Roberts House Museum, 1207 N. Carson St.
