NFL scores, live updates: Chiefs face 49ers in Super Bowl rematch in Santa Clara

It's not often that the NFL sets the stage for a nationally televised game on a Sunday afternoon. It's also not often that we see a Super Bowl rematch early in the season between two teams that are still eyeing a return to February football.

The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers had very different starts to the season. Patrick Mahomes' numbers are down compared to some of his more statistically spectacular years, but the Chiefs continue to win close games. They are 5-0 after an early bye and four of their five wins have come by just one point. The 49ers, meanwhile, have a dominant offense despite injuries to key players – they're second in the league in passing yards and third in rushing yards – but blew a 3-3 mark en route to a double-digit lead in the second half after six weeks.

While there are two games (Raiders at Rams, Panthers at Commanders) in the 4:00 p.m. ET window on CBS, national audiences will see Kansas City at San Francisco at 4:25 p.m. ET on Fox.

You can chat about it all with other Yahoo Sports fans and NFL experts using our new game discussion feature in the Yahoo Sports app. You can download the app for Apple here and for Google here and make sure you already have the latest version. This allows you to open the game page, tap “Join the Discussions,” agree to the guidelines, and then join in the fun.

(Bye: Bears, Cowboys)
