Nick Saban reveals what he wrote to Kirby Smart after Georgia's loss to Alabama

Nick Saban revealed Saturday during ESPN's “College GameDay” that he texted Kirby Smart after Georgia's 41-34 loss to Alabama last week.

The fact that Saban, 72, texted anyone might be considered news, but the former Alabama coach revealed what he sent to his former Alabama defensive coordinator.

“I know how disappointed everyone in Georgia must be that Georgia lost the game,” Saban said Saturday. “I actually texted Kirby after the game and said, 'Hey, this isn't the worst thing that ever happened.'

“Most of our best teams have lost a game at some point and they responded the right way because we had really good leadership on the team that committed people to doing things the way you need to in order to be successful .”

The comment was the result of a conversation in which the panel discussed whether it was easier to motivate a team after winning a game like Alabama-Georgia or losing a game of that magnitude.

Saban said it's easier to motivate the loser.
