NOAA releases 2024-2025 U.S. winter outlook

On Thursday, October 17, NOAA's Climate Prediction Center, a division of the National Weather Service, will announce the U.S. Winter Outlook – December 2024 to February 2025 – during a webinar for qualified media representatives. NOAA experts will announce the temperature and precipitation trends for the coming winter, as well as the expected change in drought conditions across the country and any contributing climate factors for the coming season.

NOAA produces seasonal forecasts to help the country prepare for the weather and climate conditions likely in coming seasons to minimize negative impacts on lives and livelihoods. Providing people with the information they need to take action to protect themselves is key to NOAA's efforts to build a weather and climate ready nation.
