Northwestern vs. Maryland tips and predictions

forecast

Maryland 34, Northwest 20

Money line

HAPPEN.

I got Maryland (-400) taking care of business at home Friday night, but I have no interest in paying for that juice. I'm going to put my bet on the spread.

Against the spread

BET MARYLAND -1.5 (-105).

Northwestern's offense was lackluster and its defense showed significant weaknesses, allowing opponents to score freely. On the other hand, Maryland's offense is thriving, averaging 33.4 points per game. Edwards is poised for another strong performance against Northwestern's vulnerable defense.

The Terrapins have also been reliable in covering the spread, going 6-3 ATS in their last 9 games. They have a tendency to dominate games at home, with many of their encounters going over the point total thanks to their high-scoring offense. Northwestern simply doesn't have the firepower or defensive prowess to keep up with Maryland, and this game could easily turn into a blowout. Expect the Terrapins to control the game from the start and cover the spread and win comfortably by more than 21 points.

Over/Under

BET OVER 45.5 (-110).

Based on recent trends, betting on the over looks promising. Maryland has reached the over in 5 straight home games and in 6 of the last 7 games against Big Ten opponents. Northwestern also has frequent rollovers: the team scored in five of the last seven games in October and in four of the last six games of Week 7. With Maryland's strong offense and Northwestern's shaky defense, this game should top the 45.5 point total.
