NPD takes lead in Vernon Lumby, Conservatives predict victory in Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream

A ballot box and votes outside the district still need to be assembled for the local elections.

The NDP has regained the lead from the Conservatives in the race to form the next government.

— UPDATE 9:10 p.m. —

The BC Conservative Party candidate is expected to win the new Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream race.

Excluding two ballots from riding coverage, Tara Armstrong is in the lead with nearly 54 percent of the vote.

The race between Vernon and Lumby is close, with the NDP's Harwinder Sandhu holding a slight lead over Conservative Dennis Giesbracht.

Two Vernon ballot drop boxes have yet to report, as have out-of-county votes for both local elections

With 86 percent of ballots polled, the NDP has a slight lead over the Conservatives in the race to form the next government.

— UPDATE 8:40 p.m. —

The BC Conservative Party candidate is expected to win the new Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream race.

With the exception of two ballot boxes from riding coverage, Tara Armstrong is in the lead with more than 53 percent of the vote.

The Vernon-Lumby tie between the NDP's Harwinder Sandhu and the Conservatives' Dennis Giesbrecht is too close, with all but two ballot boxes reporting.

Out-of-county ballots are still being counted.

ElectionsBC also predicts the NDP will form the next government. The New Democrats are in the lead with 78 percent of the ballot boxes.

— 8:20 p.m. Oct. 19 —

The preliminary numbers are in and it looks like there will be a change in local MLA representation.

With eight of the 25 ballots reported, Dennis Giesbrecht of the Conservative Party of BC is in the lead in the Vernon-Lumby riding.

Conservative Tara Armstrong is also leading in the Kelowna-Lake Country Coldstream contest with 15 of the 24 ballot boxes counted.

The race between the Conservatives and NDP is too close to decide who will form the next government at this point.

The figures from Saturday, October 19th are preliminary. ElectionsBC will complete vote counting on October 26th.
