NYT “Connections” October 17: Answers and clues for game #494

Connections is the hit word game that is second to none New York Times stablemate, Wordle, in popularity.

The game was first introduced to the world in June 2023 and the daily puzzle is edited by Wyna Liu.

She thought about it, like within a year Connections became the second most played game on the NYT App and website.

“The response has been truly incredible, overwhelming and unexpected,” Liu said Newsweek in June as the hit game prepared to celebrate its first birthday.

“It’s exciting that something that’s very close to my heart is resonating with people.”

How to play “Connections.”

Connections is played by finding a common theme from a table of 16 words. There are four words in each of the four topics, but some words may belong to more than one group. For example, a previous one Connections The puzzle included the words “Catering,” “Host,” “Plan,” and “Throwing” in the “Help Throw a Party” category.

Each theme is divided into a color of yellow, blue, green and purple, each reflecting a different level of difficulty. Players have four chances to make a mistake before losing the game. The puzzles are not always easy and use, among other things, a number of possible associations from homophones and puns.

Some words may belong to more than one category, so players must think carefully before making their selection.

The answers to Wednesday's puzzle can be found at the end of the article. So scroll carefully if you want to find out for yourself.
