Hello Strands fans. This is another tricky issue, at least partly due to geography. In the UK, where I write, DUMPLINGS refers to a very specific suet-based addition to casseroles and stews. Even though I had heard of every answer in the riddle, none of them would qualify as dumplings in my eyes!

Luckily, my first answer appeared at the bottom of the screen: GYOZA. This told me what to expect in the rest of the puzzle, and I immediately found SAMOSA to the left and WONTON to the right.

When I connected DUMPLINGS I was just expecting this to be a different answer and not the Spangram. This certainly blew my mind as I looked for the remaining answers in the top half of the grid.

Next I found RAVIOLI in the top left corner (definitely not a dumpling for me!) but then I was stumped and had to use a hint. PIEROGI revealed this, so all that remained to be deciphered was the anagram of “ADNAEAPM”. After a bit of wrestling, I realized it had to be EMPANADA.
