Ole Miss has a big halftime lead over South Carolina in its first away SEC game

After a crushing loss due to a missed shot last week, the Ole Miss Rebels are looking much stronger in their first SEC road game of the season

After a three-and-out early in the game, the Ole Miss defense came out firing and forced a three-and-out as well. South Carolina also failed to convert a fake punt on 4th-and-1 to give the Rebels good field position on the next possession.

On the next drive, Ole Miss capitalized as running back Henry Parrish Jr. reached the end zone with a three-yard rush with ten minutes left, giving the Rebels a 7-0 lead.

South Carolina pushed forward on the next possession until quarterback Robby Ashford fumbled and the ball was recovered by defensive lineman Walter Nolen.

The Rebels took advantage when JJ Pegues took a handoff and found the end zone for his third touchdown of the year, giving Ole Miss a 14-0 lead with 5:57 left in the first.

After four drives that included punts and turnovers on downs, South Carolina finally broke through with a 40-yard field goal to cut the lead to 14-3 with 10:08 left in the half.

Ole Miss followed with a drive that took them to the one-yard line, but a false start sent them back and ended up triggering a field goal attempt that pushed the lead back to 14 with 7:16 left.

Ole Miss' defense remained strong for the rest of the half, while the offense capitalized with another touchdown run by Pegues with less than a minute left, doubling his season tally.

The Rebels are looking better all around this week, leading 24-3 at halftime in Columbia as they look for their first SEC win of the year. You can follow live updates about the game here.
