Packers cut QB Jordan Love as Malik Willis faces his former team in Tennessee

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (AP) — The Green Bay Packers are giving quarterback Jordan Love another week of rest and are cutting him Sunday for their game against the Tennessee Titans as he continues his recovery from a knee injury.

Malik Willis will play for the Packers (1-1) for the second consecutive season against the team that traded him to Green Bay at the end of the previous season. Green Bay traded a 2025 seventh-round draft pick for the former Liberty quarterback, who was selected in the third round of the 2022 draft.

Willis completed 12 of 14 passes for 122 yards, his first career touchdown pass, and did not commit a single turnover in the win over the Colts. He also had six carries for 41 yards as the Packers rushed for 53 yards against Indianapolis.

That was their highest rushing yardage since 2003 and their highest total carries since 1978.

Love had a good practice on Sunday and looked good, and he also practiced on a limited basis this week after not practicing before last week's win over Indianapolis.

This is the second consecutive game that Love has missed since taking over as Green Bay's starting quarterback last year. He was injured left medial collateral ligament September 6 during the Packers’ last series Defeat at the start of the season to the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil.

The Packers also missed cornerback Carrington Valentine (with an ankle injury) and rookie offensive lineman Jordan Morgan (shoulder) in the game against the Titans (0-2).
