Panthers WR Xavier Legette named Pepsi Rookie of the Week nominee

Carolina Panthers wideout Xavier Legette could walk right into an award with an outstanding performance.

The 23-year-old receiver was named one of six nominees for the recent Pepsi Zero Sugar Rookie of the Week award. He will be joined by quarterbacks Jayden Daniels and Caleb Williams, as well as fellow pass catchers Malik Nabers, Brian Thomas Jr. and Xavier Worthy.

Legette had his most productive game as a pro in the Week 4 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. This year's 32nd overall pick had six receptions for 66 yards and his first career touchdown while adding another 10 yards on two rushing attempts.

He could get the voice of franchise great Luke Kuechly, who praised him on Monday's episode of Up & Adams.

“His performance is really good, his one-two is really good,” Kuechly said. “We picked a guy who should run around the field, be quick and physical and be a difficult defender for defenders.

“And as I watched him run his routes — I have to go back to that look — he pushed that DB up, he hit his chest, he stopped him, he broke him up. As soon as that DB gets behind him and he gets him on his back, you no longer play through Xavier Legette to get the ball.”

If you can vote for Legette here.
