Paul George on injury: “It won’t be a long schedule”

What would the arrival of a new Sixers be without injury fears? An MRI earlier this week revealed that Paul George suffered a bone bruise while hyperextending his knee in the Sixers' preseason game against the Hawks on Monday and was fortunate to avoid a torn ligament or serious injury.

He will be re-evaluated next week and fortunately he shouldn't be sidelined for long.

The latest update comes from the man himself, as George shared how he's doing on his podcast.

“I guess my leg just got stuck,” George said as he recalled the play. “My knee locked, my leg locked, and when I went to push off, all my momentum moved forward and my leg just moved in.”

“I will be back strong and better than ever. It was nothing major or anything to worry about. … I should hopefully be back sooner rather than later, but it won't be a long timeline,” he added.

Once George is officially re-evaluated by the team next week, we should know exactly when he will be back. If this evaluation comes exactly one week after his injury diagnosis, that would be Tuesday – the day before the Sixers' season opener against the Bucks on October 23rd.

Whenever George's return does happen, it at least sounds like it's not far away, even if he isn't active against the Bucks.
