Police search for shooting suspect in West Seattle

Police are searching for a suspect who shot and seriously injured a man in West Seattle on Wednesday evening.

The Seattle Police Department (SPD) made the first announcement on social media around 4:15 p.m.

According to SPD, officers responded to reports of a shooting near the corner of SW Snoqualmie St. and 36th Ave. SW. Upon arrival, they found a 30-year-old victim in serious condition. He was treated at the scene and transported to Harborview Medical Center.

Authorities believe the suspect fled the scene on foot and may have been armed. He is described as a black man in his 20s or 30s. He was wearing black clothing and a blue surgical mask.

The shooting occurred southeast of the West Seattle YMCA. FOX 13 contacted the YMCA and learned that a curfew was in place while police investigated the area.
