Popeyes Cajun Style Turkey Recipe

Here are Popeyes' cooking instructions for preparing the Cajun-style turkeys:

  • Thaw in the refrigerator or in cold water for 72 hours (change water every hour). Popeyes says: “DO NOT thaw at room temperature. Always leave in sealed plastic wrap when thawing.”
  • Preheat the conventional oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Remove all packaging and save the juices.
  • Place the turkey on a rack in a large roasting pan and pour the pan juices into the pan.
  • Cover with aluminum foil and seal the edges of the pan tightly.
  • Heat on the lower shelf of the oven for 1.5 hours.
  • Remove the foil and reheat the turkey, uncovered, for another 30 minutes, until the internal temperature reaches 140 degrees Fahrenheit, as measured with a meat thermometer inserted into the deepest part of the breast meat (not touching the bone).
  • Let stand for 20 minutes before carving.
  • Save the pan juices for gravy if desired.
