Power outage affects approximately 10,000 Seattle City Light customers

A power outage in Seattle's Central District is affecting approximately 10,500 customers, Seattle City Light (SCL) reported Friday afternoon.

The utility reported the outages on its X and Facebook pages shortly after 3:50 p.m. Friday, adding that the cause of the outage was under investigation.

SCL also stated that the expected timing of restoration is yet to be determined. Those interested in tracking progress can visit the Seattle City Light outage map.

In addition to the outage map, the Outages tab on the SCL website features a “What to Do During a Power Outage” webpage that provides tips for staying safe during a power outage.

Customers wishing to report a power outage are asked to call (206) 684-3000. Anyone calling will need their SCL account number or the phone number associated with their account. Citizens who see a power outage in their neighborhood should stay 30 feet away and call 911 immediately.
