President Biden urges Floridians to evacuate now

WASHINGTON (Gray DC) – Hurricane Milton is expected to hit Florida soon, President Joe Biden is urging those who have been ordered to leave the country to “evacuate now.”

President Biden met with his storm preparation team in the Roosevelt Room on Tuesday. He announced that he had already approved emergency declarations in Florida.

“This could be the worst storm to hit Florida in over a century, and God willing it won't be, but right now it looks that way.”

Responding to a question from Gray Media, the president said he had spoken to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and assured him that the federal government would stand with Florida.

“The governor of Florida has been cooperative and says he got everything he needed. I spoke to him yesterday and said, no, you are doing a great job and that everything is being done well, and I thank you for that. And I literally gave him my personal phone number to call.”

Due to potential damage from Hurricane Milton, President Biden has canceled his planned trip to Germany and Angola, telling reporters that he would like to postpone the trip – but he simply doesn't believe he can leave the country at this time.
