O'Connell's injury occurred during the Raiders' 20-15 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, where he completed 6 of 10 passes for 52 yards.

Ridder has a career NFL completion percentage of 64 percent, with 14 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

The 25-year-old was drafted in the third round by Cincinnati and began his career with the Atlanta Falcons before joining the Cardinals' practice squad for the 2024 season.

Ridder's call-up comes after Raiders backup Gardner Minshew completed 15 of 34 yards for 154 yards, three interceptions and a fumble.

The former Falcon started 13 games for Atlanta last season and finished the season with a 64 percent completion rate for total 2,836 yards, 12 touchdowns, 12 interceptions and 12 fumbles.

Ridder could make his first appearance with the Raiders at home against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.
