Rams WR Cooper Kupp (ankle) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Raiders

Cooper Kupp will not return to the Rams at a potential turning point in the season.

The All-Pro receiver is officially inactive for Sunday's game against the Raiders, extending his absence to four games due to a severe ankle sprain.

Kupp was limited all week and received a questionable call on Friday. Head coach Sean McVay said a decision could come closer to the game. This decision ultimately proved negative for the scrappy Rams.

At 1-4, Los Angeles is currently 1-4 compared to the rest of the NFC West and is tied with the Carolina Panthers as the only team in the conference not to have multiple wins entering Week 7.

It's a far cry from the year the Rams or Kupp had expected so far, especially after LA took on a strong Detroit Lions team in a season opener in which Kupp looked like an unstoppable threat with 120 total yards and one touchdown on 16 touchdowns brought the extension.

But then Kupp sprained his ankle before halftime of a loss to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 2. His name became perhaps the biggest of all in a long list of LA injuries early on, which also included fellow top wideout Puka Nacua, who remains on injured reserve.

LA scored a surprise win over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 3 without Kupp, but then fell to the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers in consecutive one-possession games.
