Road closures at the 2024 Chicago Marathon begin Wednesday for Sunday's race

CHICAGO (WLS) – Road closures will begin Wednesday and continue throughout the week in preparation for Sunday's Bank of America Chicago Marathon.

The race starts and ends in Grant Park and runs through 29 neighborhoods along its route. There will be road closures before, during and after the race.

All roads will reopen at 6 a.m. Monday, the city said. Here is the full list of road closures per day.

Wednesday, October 9th

• Jackson Dr. from Columbus Dr. to DuSable Lake Shore Drive closes at 10 a.m. and reopens at 6 a.m. Monday, Oct. 14
• The Balbo Dr. from Michigan Ave. to Columbus Dr. closes at 4 a.m. and reopens at 3 p.m. on Monday, October 14th

Thursday, October 10th

• The Balbo Dr. from Michigan Ave. to Columbus Dr. closes at 4 a.m. and reopens at 3 p.m. on Monday, October 14th

Friday, October 11th

• Columbus Drive from Monroe to Jackson St. will close at 4 a.m. and reopen Sunday, Oct. 13, at 8 p.m
• The Congress Plaza on Michigan Ave. (Van Buren St. to Harrison St.) closes at 4 a.m. and reopens Sunday, Oct. 13, at 8 p.m
• Ida B. Wells from Michigan Ave to Congress Plaza closes at 4 a.m. and reopens Sunday, October 13th at 8 p.m
• Ida B. Wells from Congress Plaza to Columbus Dr. closes at 4 a.m. and reopens Sunday, October 13th at 8 p.m
• Jackson Dr. from Michigan Ave. to Columbus Dr. closes at 4 a.m. and reopens Sunday, October 13th at 8 p.m

Saturday, October 12th

• Columbus Dr. Randolph to Monroe St. will close at 6 a.m. and open at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13
• Roosevelt Rd. from Columbus Dr. to DuSable Lake Shore Drive will close at 11 a.m. and open Sunday, Oct. 13, at 6 p.m
• Monroe St. from Michigan Ave. to Columbus Dr. will close at 4 a.m. and open at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 13th
• Monroe St. from Columbus Dr. to DuSable Lake Shore Drive will close at 4 a.m. and open at 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13

Sunday, October 13th

• Columbus Dr. by McFetridge Dr. to Roosevelt Road will close at 4 a.m. and open at 6 p.m
• Michigan Ave. from Madison to 9th St. will close at 4 a.m. and open at 9 a.m
• Roosevelt Rd. from Michigan to Columbus Dr. closes at 4 a.m. and opens at 6 p.m
• Michigan Ave. from 9th St. to Roosevelt Rd will close at 5:30 a.m. and open at 4 p.m

There will also be parking bans along the marathon route, marked with “no parking zone” signs. Towing is strictly controlled, the city said.
