Robin Wright explains why she never hung out with Tom Hanks on the set of Forrest Gump

Robin Wright recently announced that she and Tom Hanks They never really met while working on Forrest Gump — but that's not all she has to say about it.

On Monday, she explained to “Today.” that the reason the two actors didn't get along on set was because Hanks – who played Forrest – was just too busy, well, forestry.

“We were running around, shooting the movie, and every lunch break Tom would run out, just run to wherever they could grab him, so we didn't really have time to hang out,” she told the outlet.

In the Oscar-winning 1994 film, running is an important aspect of Hank's title character. As a child, Forrest becomes a runner because he has to escape his bullies. As an adult, he embarks on an epic three-year sprint across the United States “for no particular reason.”

The film shows Hanks running through countless scenic locations across the country, such as the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina and Monument Valley in Utah and Arizona. per Smithsonian Magazine.

And although Hanks and Wright were distant during filming, Wright told “Today” that they “got to know each other as adults” after reuniting with “Forrest Gump” director Robert Zemeckis for their upcoming film “Here.”

“It was literally like the band getting back together,” she said of working on the sprawling drama about generations of people living on the same property.

She added of Zemeckis and Hanks: “I would do anything with Bob and Tom.”
