Samson Dauda is the new Mr. Olympia 2024

Bodybuilding history was made on Saturday, October 12, 2024, as Samson Dauda
took center stage as the 19th man to win the biggest title in bodybuilding – the Mr. Olympia.
Dauda was one of 15 Men's Open competitors who competed at the Resorts World Theater
Las Vegas, NV as the main event of the Joe Weider Olympia Fitness 2024 and
Performance Weekend, and his victory capped a historic weekend in sports
Bodybuilding.

Hadi Choopan took second place for the second consecutive year and 2023
Olympic champion Derek Lunsford finished the competition in third place.

Dauda etched his name into immortality in more ways than one. Apart from being
He is the 19th champion in the competition's 60-year history and also the first Nigerian champion
always. He is also the third non-American to hold the title since 2019. The other two are
Choopan and two-time winner Mamdouh “Big Ramy” Elssbiay. Dauda holds those too
second Golden Sandow in recognition of the 60th edition of the Mr. Olympia. The first
was awarded to Phil Heath, who won the 50th edition.

The new champion also received the highest individual award in the history of bodybuilding. Before the
Announcement, Olympia owner Jake Wood came on stage and announced that he
awarded the winner $600,000. No competitor had ever received more than
$400,000 for winning a single competition. The Arnold Classic 2025 should be the new one
Benchmark at $500,000 before Wood's announcement,

Rounding out the top five was fourth-place finisher Martin Fitzwater, who made the cut
his Olympic debut and Andrew Jacked in fifth place.

Dauda is now qualified for the Olympics for life and was overcome with emotion afterwards
the announcement and received several hugs and congratulations from his colleague
Competitors. Before this weekend he had never finished higher than third.
