Second death of a student reported in WWU student dormitory

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – WWU officials issued a second statement today, Oct. 10, acknowledging the death of a second student, following the previous report of another death resulting from an apparent fall from a student residence hall.

It is with regret that the University must now confirm that two students apparently died in separate incidents yesterday evening. One occurred after an apparent fall from Nash Hall, an on-campus residence hall. Emergency services were called around 10:30 p.m., arrived on scene and provided medical assistance. The second occurred that same night. The student was found unresponsive in Alma Clark Glass Hall this morning. Law enforcement authorities are currently investigating both cases.

In both cases, law enforcement said there was no initial evidence of crime or a connection between the two deaths and that there was no threat to the public. The families of both students have been notified and are receiving support from the university and emergency personnel.
