Sergei Bobrovsky winning 400 NHL games further strengthens the Hall of Fame's resume

Florida Panthers goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky has a rare opportunity.

On Thursday night, Bobrovsky was between the posts as the Panthers defeated the New York Rangers 3-1 at Madison Square Garden.

The win was the 400th of Bob's incredible NHL career.

In true Bobrobsky style, he delivered an amazing show while also securing the milestone dub.

In the end he only had 25 shots on goal, but a whopping ten of them were particularly dangerous.

Bobrovsky now becomes just the 14th goaltender in league history to achieve this feat, joining former Panthers goaltenders Roberto Luongo and Ed Belfour, who have the fourth and fifth-most wins of all time, respectively.

The only thing on his mind after Thursday's game was the win itself. Personal accolades never mean much to Bob. For him it's all about the team.

“Right now I don’t think about it much,” Bobrovsky said of winning 400 games. “These are two important points for us, we just beat a really good team.”

Bobrovsky, who turned 36 last month, is in his 15th NHL season and his sixth with the Panthers.

In addition to his 400 wins, Bob has also won two Vezina Trophies as the league's best goaltender, he's a three-time NHL All-Star and, oh yeah, he's also a Stanley Cup champion after leading Florida to the top Mountain last summer.

“I’m fortunate to play with great teammates and good coaches along the way,” he said. “I’m enjoying this moment and I’m enjoying every moment in the hockey gear and just having fun.”

There is still one year left on the seven-year contract he signed with the Panthers in 2019.

It's probably safe to say that Bobrovsky will be a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame as soon as he hangs up his skates and becomes eligible, whenever that may be.

As hard as Bobrovsky works at his craft and as good as he stays at it, it wouldn't be a surprise to see him play until he hits his 40s.

No matter how long Bob decides to keep playing, he has a huge fan club of Panthers fans in South Florida and beyond.
