Seth Rogen's friendship is "over" after the #MeToo fallout.

James Franco and Seth Rogen were once close friends and collaborators. Now Franco says their bond is “over.”

In an interview with Variety published Friday, the “127 Hours” actor opened up about a falling out with his former boyfriend Rogen while also describing his acting comeback following a wave of #MeToo sexual misconduct allegations in the 2010s.

“I haven’t spoken to Seth. I love Seth, we had 20 great years together but I think it's over. And not for lack of trying. “I told him how much he meant to me,” Franco told Variety of the interview.

Rogen and Franco, who met as teenagers in Hollywood, worked together on famous projects such as “Freaks and Geeks,” “The Disaster Artist,” “Pineapple Express” and “This Is The End.” But in real life, things have become much more complicated.

In 2021, Franco spoke openly about his sexual misconduct allegations and the end of his relationship with Rogen, who told British newspaper The Sunday Times earlier this year that he had no plans to work with his ex-boyfriend again.

The Oscar nominee reiterated Rogen's claims during an interview with host Jess Cagle on SiriusXM's “The Jess Cagle Podcast” in December 2021.

“Of course it was hurtful in the context, but I understand. He had to answer for me because I remained silent. He had to answer for me and I don't want that. And that's why it's one of the most important.” “I don't want Seth or my brother (actor Dave Franco) or anyone to have to answer for me anymore,” Franco told Cagle during the interview.

Franco added in the 2021 interview: “We haven't had a single argument for 20 years at the moment and we have no plans to work together.

Franco, who is promoting his new film “Hey Joe” at the Rome Film Festival, addressed the allegations and his comeback attempt again in the Variety interview published on Friday.

“It hurts to be told you're feeling bad, but in the end it's exactly what I needed to just stop going the way I wanted to,” Franco said.

He continued: “I am so grateful to be working. I went through a lawsuit, and during that lawsuit I didn't work. But then COVID hit, so not everyone worked. So, I don't know was all… I mean, we were all kind of in it, so it was kind of like, 'I don't know what I am.'”

Franco and Rogen were friends for over 20 years, but the events that led to the breakdown of the famous Hollywood couple's relationship occurred a decade ago.

In 2014, Franco, then 35, made headlines after asking a 17-year-old girl out on Instagram. (He later apologized.) This year, Franco and Rogen joked about the infamous incident during their respective hosting stints on “SNL.”

Then, four years later, the Canadian comedian said “yes” in a 2018 interview with Vulture when asked if he would continue to work with Franco.

Later, in May 2021, Rogen gave an update on the couple's relationship in an interview with Britain's Sunday Times.

“I remember a joke I made on 'Saturday Night Live' in 2014, and I really regret making that joke,” Rogen said. “To be honest, it was a terrible joke. And I also look back at the interview in 2018 where I mentioned that I would continue to work with James, and the truth is that I haven't and I don't plan to at the moment.”

In June 2021, a month after Rogen's comments, Franco agreed to pay $2.2 million to settle a sexual misconduct lawsuit against him by his former acting students at Studio 4 acting and film school with locations in Los Angeles and New York York City.
