Showers and some strong thunderstorms on Tuesday in Middle Tennessee.

FOX 17 News has a Red Weather Warning in effect for showers and storms throughout the week.

Thanks to several weather systems moving through the Middle State, we're expecting plenty of rain this week.

We'll start with what's coming first. A cold front will arrive on Tuesday, bringing widespread showers and storms to the region.

Some strong storms are possible ahead of and along the front. The main danger is isolated destructive wind gusts and hail.

There is no threat of a tornado storm.

Showers and thunderstorms will continue on Wednesday as an upper-level low pressure system moves through Arkansas, but precipitation amounts are expected to remain light.

This low pressure area at altitude will also be the driving force for the likely next hurricane (Helene) in the Gulf.

This tropical system is expected to make landfall somewhere along the Gulf Coast by Thursday and could bring plenty of rain to Tennessee.

As always (and as we remember with Francine), the path of the system will largely determine rainfall amounts and other impacts.

The likelihood of any impact is still low at this time. Stay tuned to the forecast and expect changes throughout the week.
