Solheim Cup winners Nelly Korda, Lexi Thompson and Rose Zhang back on the LPGA

Fresh from the 2024 Solheim Cup, the LPGA is back in full swing this week.

Eleven players will compete in the Kroger Queen City Championship presented by P&G in Maineville, Ohio, outside of Cincinnati.

Three of them – Nelly Korda, Lexi Thompson and Rose Zhang – come from the victorious American team, which will compete just five days after winning the Cup.

“My goodness, it was such an incredible and crazy week,” Korda said. “All in all, it was just so much fun with our caddies, with the assistants, Stacy, the helpers and also with the girls. This was my fourth Solheim Cup and of course it was nicer to get the win at the end of the week, but it was also such a great week with the girls.”

But now it's back to the LPGA competition, where she will compete against her American teammates.

“I just hate all the girls again,” she joked, drawing laughter from the media center. “Coming here and competing and doing what I love just gives me a little energy boost.”

The eight Europeans in the field are Linn Grant, Georgia Hall, Esther Henseleit, Charley Hull, Leona Maguire, Anna Nordqvist, Madelene Sagstrom and Albane Valenzuela.

This is the third staging of the event, but the first time the Arnold Palmer-designed TPC River's Bend has been the host venue after two years at Kenwood Country Club. It is only the third time the LPGA has played a tournament at a TPC venue. Just last month, the inaugural FM Championship was held at TPC Boston. The 2023 Hanwha Lifeplus International Crown was held at TPC Harding Park.

Minjee Lee is the defending champion this week. Last year she defeated Charley Hull on the second playoff hole.

There are four sponsor exemptions at the event: Amari Avery, Gianna Clemente, Gabrielle Woods (who won the NCAA Div. II singles championship for Findlay last season) and Yana Wilson, a former No. 1-ranked player in the Rolex AJGA rankings.

The Kroger is the first of nine remaining events on the 2024 LPGA calendar.
