Starting lineup Roma vs. Inter Milan: Nicolo Barella starts

Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi has decided to start Nicolo Barella against Roma. The duel on the eighth matchday of Serie A begins this afternoon at 8:45 p.m. CET.

Inter are back in action after a two-week absence during the international break.

The Nerazzurri's first return game in Serie A is against Roma.

And Inter coach Simone Inzaghi has tried to field more or less his strongest starting XI available.

Yann Sommer starts in goal first. The former Bayern Munich veteran continues his record of starting every game for Inter this season.

Then Benjamin Pavard gets the nod in defense ahead of Yann Bisseck.

The Frenchman thus completes the three-man chain alongside Francesco Acerbi and Alessandro Bastoni.

Next, Inzaghi took on Denzel Dumfries and Carlos Augusto on the wings with Matteo Darmian and Federico Dimarco.

Nicolo Barella returns straight to the starting eleven – Davide Frattesi drops to the bench

Next, Inzaghi had to make the most notable selection decision in midfield.

There was never any doubt that Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Hakan Calhanoglu would be in the starting XI. However, two midfielders fought for the third remaining spot in the trio – both Italian internationals.

Davide Frattesi started Inter's last two games before the international break. This came while Nicolo Barella was out with a hamstring strain.

However, Barella got fit again during the international break.

Therefore, Barella is ready for his return. And Inzaghi has decided to give the 27-year-old the nod tonight.

Finally, in attack, it is the usual first-choice attacking partnership. Therefore, Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram start for the Nerazzurri.

As for injuries, Inter are missing three players. First, Tajon Buchanan isn't quite ready to return from a long-term injury.

Now both Piotr Zielinski And Kristjan Asllani I will miss the game tonight due to injury.
