Steelers post Week 6 inactive against Raiders

Quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers (3-2) for the first time this season. Russell Wilson is not on the inactive list. Wilson will return to action on Sunday for Week 6's away contest against the Las Vegas Raiders (2-3) and will serve as a backup Justin Fields.

Wilson was sidelined for the first five games due to a calf injury that he initially sustained on the eve of training camp. The injury aggravated again days before the season opener and has had limited training since then. Wilson participated fully in training this week and believes he will have no problem getting up to speed.

“I got all the reps,” Wilson said Thursday. “It’s not like I wasn’t out there. I got a lot of reps this time and everything else overall and I feel really confident about our guys and who we are. You’ve seen some of the plays the guys are making, it’s just a lot of good things, so I’m confident and I’m not worried about it.”

Russell Wilson will be active for the first time in the 2024 season

Although Pittsburgh lost its last two games, Fields largely impressed in place of Wilson and retained the starting spot against Las Vegas. Fields has thrown for 961 yards, five touchdowns and one interception on a 67.6% pass rate.

The Steelers pass rush will be shorthanded on Sunday. Alex Highsmith (Groin) is out for the third time in a row Nick Herbig is out due to a thigh injury.
