Steelers remain undervalued in AFC North Division odds after Week 3

The Pittsburgh Steelers are one of the few undefeated teams in the NFL with a 3-0 record, but bookmakers do not yet believe they are favorites in the AFC North.

Pittsburgh defeated the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 3, holding them to just 10 points. Through three games, the Steelers defense has allowed just 26 points total and no more than 10 points in a single game.

Still, the latest odds to win the division have them trailing the Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals (who have yet to win a game prior to Monday Night Football in Week 3).

Here is the implied probability – based on these odds – for each of these teams to win the division:

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has never His coaching career in the NFL finished below .500, an incredible feat considering he has been Pittsburgh's head coach since 2007.

Pittsburgh can technically play with backup quarterback Justin Fields because Russell Wilson (calf) is injured, but it's hard to imagine Pittsburgh getting a chance unless Fields gets into trouble.

In three games, the former first-round pick has thrown for 518 yards, two scores and just one interception while completing 73.3 percent of his passes. He also has 90 rushing yards and one run.

While Fields isn't the star performer, he does enough to allow the Steelers defense to shut down opponents and win games.

At 3-0, Pittsburgh has a two-game lead over everyone else in the AFC North (Baltimore and Cleveland are both 1-2) and could even have a three-game lead over the Bengals depending on the outcome of their Week 3 game.

With Tomlin's track record, Pittsburgh appears to be at least in the running for a playoff spot in the AFC after doing so last season with Kenny Pickett, Mitch Trubisky and Mason Rudolph as quarterbacks.

Bettors should not only trust Tomlin and the infrastructure of this Steelers roster, but also the Steelers' incredible schedule this season.

According to TankathonPittsburgh has the third easiest remaining schedule (.410 winning percentage) with games remaining against the Las Vegas Raiders, New York Giants and Indianapolis Colts.

It's still early, but the Steelers may have a real chance to win 10-11 games in 2024, which could be enough to win this division.
