Taylen Green injury update: Arkansas football QB injured in game against Tennessee

Arkansas football suffered a near-devastating setback in its attempt to pull off a comeback win over No. 4 Tennessee Saturday night when Taylen Green left the game in the fourth quarter with a lower-body injury. The Hogs were still able to secure a 19:14 victory.

Green appeared to overcome the injury with 14:15 to play after taking a low hit from Tennessee defensive lineman Omar Norman-Lott after throwing a 30-yard pass to Andrew Armstrong. Norman-Lott was cited for a personal foul in the game.

Green came back into the game for a play on Arkansas' next drive, but limped as he exited the pocket to the right and then left the play. He entered the injury tent before heading to the Arkansas locker room with the Hogs trailing 14-13.

After the game, head coach Sam Pittman said Green had a “mild MCL” injury.

Redshirt freshman Malachin Singleton took Green's place and scored the game-winning touchdown with 1:17 left.

As a true freshman, Singleton had no issues as he redshirted behind players like KJ Jefferson and Jacolby Criswell. He impressed the coaches in his first fall and Singleton took his game to new levels in the spring under Bobby Petrino, easily winning the reserve competition over Criswell and KJ Jackson.

The 6-foot-3 right-hander made his first career appearance in the Hogs' 70-0 victory over UAPB to open the 2024 season. He completed 8 of 10 passes for 120 yards and scored his first career touchdown on a four in the fourth quarter -yard run. He also played a series against Auburn earlier this year.
