Taylen Green Injury Update: Sam Pittman provides the latest on the Arkansas QB following the win against Tennessee

Taylen Green didn't finish the game as Arkansas upset Tennessee due to an injury. Malachi Singleton completed the deal and Sam Pittman revealed why Green didn't return after leaving early in the fourth quarter.

As for Green, it doesn't seem to be anything serious. Pittman was willing to take him back there, but Arkansas decided to play it safe.

After the win, Pittman gave the latest, praising Singleton for pulling it off in the end.

“Taylen, you know, we’ll see. “Of course, it wasn’t so bad for us not to ask him how he felt,” Pittman said. “Our diagnosis for him was if he wanted to get back in the game we could, then he got attacked again and then we just said, ‘Okay, that’s enough.’ Let’s put Malachi in. Malachi, when he came in we didn't have good field position, so Bobby tried to address that in addition to field position. You know, when Bobby just calls whatever he wants there on offense, we're usually pretty good. I think part of it is to make sure, Malachi, that we have a little bit of confidence there.

“And then the last two trips he was phenomenal. He handled it very well. And, you know, he scored the touchdown there to take the lead. And he's been here for a long time and hasn't been able to play, and to go in there and score the winning touchdown with the help of 10 other guys must be really fulfilling for him. I’m really happy for him.”

Taylen Green could have returned, but Sam Pittman isn't risking it

Green finished the game completing 19 of 27 passes for 266 yards but no scores. Singleton threw just three passes and completed two of them for 31 yards. He also ran for 12 yards and a touchdown in what turned out to be the game-winning score.

“Of course they (Tennessee) think their kids deserve to win,” Pittman said. “They took their time and I just say, man, we’ve got two more plays, don’t let them score. Because I know our children. We have to win this. And so I just thought, let's get her on the ground, get her on the ground. Honestly, I thought, hey, no penalties in the end zone, to be honest.

“But whenever (Nico Iamleava) got flushed and couldn't find anyone, Nico would eventually put the ball away to make a run, and I wanted to see if he got the first down, and he did. But the clock has run out. So I was just thinking about all this and all these things. And when it was over, I thought about how proud the state of Arkansas is of its football team, and that's the only damn reason, well, it's not the reason I took the job, but that's one of the Main reasons I came here I wanted to try to make the state proud of the team.”
