Taylor Swift calls Sabrina Carpenter, singer accompanies her to surprise mashup

Taylor Swift lit up the entire Caesars Superdome on Saturday, October 26, during the second of her three-night Eras Tour stop in New Orleans — and she had a special guest to help her!

During the surprise song portion of the show, Swift, 34, picked up a phone from the audience and called her friend and former Eras tour support act Sabrina Carpenter.

In a recent video posted to X (formerly Twitter), Swift gently told the crowd that they needed to be quiet while she put Carpenter “on speaker phone.”

Her fellow singer responded and Swift explained that she was performing a show on her Eras Tour before telling Carpenter, 25, that she sang part of her song “Espresso” and the crowd “sang every single word so loud.”

“We all love you so much,” Swift added. The “Blank Space” singer then asked her friend where she was and said, “Why aren't you here with us?”

The singers then discussed how they had both been there where people were “screaming really loud.”

Next, Swift asked Carpenter if she could “come to the stadium real quick?” Adding: “How long would it take you?”

“It would probably take about five seconds,” the “Espresso” singer replied as the crowd roared their approval.

“Okay, see you soon, I love you. Bye!” Swift told her friend before Carpenter took the stage just seconds later in a white dress.

The two singers then forcefully joined forces for a surprising mashup of Carpenter songs “Espresso” and “Please, Please Please” with Swift's track “Is It Over Now?” The latter song has a sweet connection to espresso as it contains the lyrics, “Let's fast forward to three hundred take-out coffees later.”

Carpenter has previously supported the Grammy winner as an opening act in Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Japan, Australia and Singapore and even appeared on stage in Australia in February. The pair performed a duet in Sydney for a medley of “White Horse” and “Coney Island” after Carpenter's opening act had to be canceled due to bad weather, delaying the show.

Meanwhile, even venue operators were excited about Swift's arrival at the New Orleans stadium ahead of her first show, which took place on Friday, October 25.

The day before, on Thursday, October 24, the New Orleans Saints' official Instagram account posted a picture of the outside of the venue with a giant inflatable friendship bracelet above the entrance that reads “Taylor Swift” in beads.

“A welcome to Taylor 🫶,” the post’s caption reads.

Fans were also eagerly preparing for the Louisiana shows, with one Swiftie telling PEOPLE about her bold venture to secure a block of 191 hotel rooms at cost so other fans of the “Fortnight” singer could afford them travel and see them perform live.

Swift, 34, is currently nearing the end of her massive, internationally acclaimed Eras Tour, which began in Glendale, Arizona on March 17, 2023 and has traveled across North America, South America, Europe, Asia and Australia over the time since then .

All that remains of Swift's live performance on the Eras Tour — after her third and final night in Louisiana on Oct. 27 — is a three-night stay in Indianapolis and a six-night run in Toronto.
