“I’m so excited to have you on the show tonight,” reads a letter apparently written by Swift. “I wanted to thank you for always being so supportive, so loyal and for having my back when many others didn't. I hope you have a lot of fun tonight!! Love, Taylor.”

The letter was written on letterhead that read “from the desk of TAYLOR SWIFT” and “SONGWRITER/FELINE ENTHUSIAST” at the top. The letterhead went viral last year when the singer sent a message to Alicia Keys.

After Portnoy shared the message she received, social media users expressed frustration that the singer had thanked a Trump supporter who had been accused of sexual misconduct. “Taylor giving Dave Portnoy a letter is pretty disappointing,” wrote one Trumpie. “There are so many people who deserve this much more than him.”

“Taylor doing this for misogynist Dave Portnoy is a bad decision and shows how backwards Taylor's 13 management team still is, especially considering she is very strategic with every speech,” another fan added added.

Last week, Portnoy, who says he plans to vote for Donald Trump in the current election cycle, called Vice President Kamala Harris “the worst presidential candidate in the history of American politics.” Swift endorsed Harris back in September, a move to which Portnoy responded by saying, “I don't care at all.”

Prior to his endorsement of Trump, Portnoy's list of controversies also included allegations of sexual misconduct by multiple women, the use of racist and misogynistic language in so-called “comedy” videos and sexist attacks against women working in sports media.

In 2021 a insider Report accused Portnoy of having “violent and degrading” sex with women as young as 19 while he was in his 40s. A follow-up report from insider spoke with other alleged victims with similar claims against Portnoy, including three women who claimed he filmed their sexual encounters without their consent. Portnoy's subsequent defamation lawsuit against the broadcaster was dismissed and he dropped his appeal in 2023.

In 2020, footage resurfaced of Portnoy using the N-word, making racist comments about Colin Kaepernick and supporting a colleague's use of blackface.

On a 2014 episode of the Barstool Sports show, Portnoy called ESPN anchor Samantha Ponder a “bitch.”

“We want to see you spice it up and be slutty and not some prudish idiot that everyone hates,” Portnoy said The Guardian. “Sam Ponder, you fucking bastard.”

In 2010, Portnoy wrote a blog post siding with an Australian man who was acquitted of rape after his defense team used the fact that his victim was wearing skinny jeans to bolster his case. “While I never condone rape, if you're a size 6 and wear skinny jeans, you kind of deserve to be raped, right?” Portnoy wrote. Portnoy commented on this post in May of this year. “Where I failed,” he told Tucker Carlson, “was thinking that a size 6 was like a size 20.”

As examined in a 2018 report The Daily BeastPortnoy, who describes himself as “irresolvable,” has long led campaigns against his critics, often relying on his die-hard supporters to sexually harass and doxx those critics online.
