Texas defends Oregon at No. 1 in Week 8's AP Top 25

A top-three match and two additional top-25 matches were the only games the ranked teams lost last week. Still, there were changes in the latest AP Top 25. Here's what you need to know:

Texas defends Oregon for first place

Texas beat Oregon to the top spot in this week's AP Top 25 by 51 points. The Longhorns dominated a top-ranked Oklahoma team in the Red River Rivalry as quarterback Quinn Ewers shined in his return to the lineup.

Oregon sits just behind Texas at No. 2 in the rankings. The Ducks moved up one spot after defeating then-No. 2 Ohio State by one point at home.

LSU moves into the top 10

After LSU defeated then-No. 9 Ole Miss, the Tigers improved five spots and entered the top 10 at No. 8. 9.

We've already talked about the top two spots, but the rest of the top five consists of No. 3 Penn State, No. 4 Ohio State and No. 5 Georgia. Ohio State fell just two spots after its loss.

The rest of the top 10 consists of No. 6 Miami, No. 7 Alabama and No. 10 Clemson. The SEC has four teams in the top 10, with Tennessee falling to No. 11.

Army and Navy join this week's rankings

Army and Navy were the two teams ranked this week, replacing Utah and Oklahoma after the schools lost last week. Both schools are among the eleven undefeated teams remaining in the FBS. Liberty is the only undefeated team not ranked.

Navy enters the Top 25 for the first time after a bye last week, but the Midshipmen are off to a 5-0 start to the season. Army cracks the Top 25 for the first time this season after moving to 6-0 with a dominant win over UAB. Army now has the longest active winning streak in the country at 10 games.
