The 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E will be sportier and more affordable

Ford is giving its flagship electric vehicle a facelift, a better price and more efficient components to maintain its place as the second-best-selling electric vehicle in America. Say hello to the 2025 Mustang Mach-E.

Unlike the 2024 model, the Mach-E won't get a range increase this year, but fortunately it doesn't seem necessary. With an improved design and some nifty new technology, the updated Mach-E is likely to remain popular with buyers for years to come.

First of all, the 2025 Mustang Mach-E gets a standard heat pump, joining the F-150 Lightning Flash in the automaker's lineup. Heat pumps can keep batteries at a more optimal temperature during the winter months, which has a positive impact on charging times, range and performance. More and more electric vehicles are equipped with standard heat pumps as the automotive industry begins to recognize their benefits.

Ford has smoothed out the exterior design with an all-new Sport Appearance package that borrows key styling cues from the GT version of its best-selling electric vehicle. This includes a new front apron and radiator grille shield as well as red-painted front brake calipers with Brembo logo. To complement this, Ford has also installed 19-inch wheels in monochromatic high-gloss black paint, as well as black-painted door panels and wheel lips.

Inside, red accent stitching and sports pedals provide additional sportiness. Ford has equipped the premium models of the Mach-E with ventilated front seats as standard. And it replaced the center-mounted shifter with a column-mounted shifter to free up console space.

The latest version (1.5) of Ford's hands-free driver assistance system Blue Cruise comes to market with the 2025 Mach-E. The version adds automatic lane changing to its repertoire, which Ford says will “automate up to 45% of lane changes on an average trip” based on internal testing.

The system changes lanes “without driver intervention”, meaning it initiates a lane change if the vehicle in front is slower than the set speed or if a vehicle follows the overtaking lane too closely. BlueCruise will be available as a monthly or annual subscription for the 2025 Mustang Mach-E.

And the icing on the cake is the new, lower price: $36,495, excluding incentives and tax credits. That's cheaper than the base Tesla Model Y, which is the best-selling electric vehicle in the U.S. ahead of the Mach-E, starting at $44,490. That should help Ford maintain its status in the rankings – or perhaps even improve its ranking.
