The Cowboys could be without the injured Parsons and Lawrence for several games, according to AP sources

DALLAS (AP) — Two-time All-Pro Micah Parsons and fellow pass rusher DeMarcus Lawrence could miss several Dallas Cowboys games after being injured in a win over the New York Giants, two people with knowledge of the injuries said on Friday.

Parsons has a high ankle sprain and Lawrence has a foot sprain, the people told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because details of the injuries have not been released.

One of the people said Parsons would be considered week-to-week, while Lawrence would likely be out longer but is still being evaluated.

Parsons was injured in the fourth quarter of Dallas' 20-15 win when he said someone fell on his left leg during touchdown. Lawrence left the game in the third quarter and had his foot taped but did not return.

The Cowboys (2-2) next play at Pittsburgh on Oct. 6 before a home game against Detroit on Oct. 13, followed by their open week. Missing both games would give players a month of recovery time.

After the game, Parsons said stadium X-rays came back negative and an MRI was scheduled for Friday. Trying to sound optimistic, Lawrence said, “It's just a sprained ankle, but I'll be fine.”

Parsons and Lawrence are the team's leading pass rushers.

Parsons, the 2021 AP Defensive Rookie of the Year, entered the season as the only players other than Pro Football Hall of Famer Reggie White to have at least 12 sacks in each of his first three years since sacks became an official statistic in 1982.

Lawrence, who is in his 11th season, had one sack against the Giants and ranks 10th on the club's career list with 61 1/2 sacks.
