The deadline to register to vote is Monday, October 21st

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Monday is the deadline to register to vote in Alabama. If you have recently had a name change or moved, Monday is also the last day to update your registration.

Jefferson County Board of Registrars Chairman Barry Stephenson said his office is busy preparing for Nov. 5.

“We are very busy here. This involves fielding calls from people inquiring about the ballot, their precinct, how they vote, how they get information about candidates, and we get a lot of foot traffic. “People come in, bring us forms, fill out forms or have general questions,” Stephenson said.

Jefferson County expects more than 300,000 voters on Election Day. Stephenson said they added more precincts and other measures to accommodate the large turnout.

“We have increased the number of voting precincts and conducted check-in using the iPad, which is much faster. That’s why we hope to have an efficient process for all voters on Election Day.”

To vote you need a valid ID.

If you plan to vote by mail, the deadline is October 31st.

You can register to vote on this website. There you will also find information about postal voting and updating your registration.
