The Denver Broncos player scores in the 23:16 defeat against the Los Angeles Chargers

The Denver Broncos almost laid a goose egg for three quarters against them Los Angeles Chargers before it finally goes to the board. A surge late in the fourth quarter made the game seem close, but the Broncos' inability to make explosive plays prevented them from completing the comeback.

It was a disappointing 23-16 defeat. This puts pressure on the Broncos to win their next two games to stay in a good position. Their next game is on Thursday evening.

Let's look at the Broncos' individual player grades from Week 6.

It wasn't a good game for Nix for about 50 minutes, but he found a way to get hot late against the Chargers and make it a close game. He had a 5.2 grade going into those final 10-12 minutes, so he increased the score, but the Broncos need him for a full 60 minutes.

Williams' mark suffered a few major setbacks during the game with a drop and a fumble. Outside of fumbles, he ran somewhat decently, if inconsistently. He did pretty well in pass protection, as he has done all season.

The Broncos' receivers made some plays through three quarters despite some issues. Vele had a bad drop but made two big plays later in the game to increase the potential for a comeback from the Broncos' offense.

Franklin's speed can be a threat, but he still has a lot of work to do as a route runner. Sutton has improved and been reliable. He had an outstanding catch for a touchdown.

Krull is a safety valve, but it offers little more. His blocking is poor and he is not the athlete to be a dynamic receiver.

Bolles made some tough plays, including a near-sack that stunned him for a second, but he recovered and had a solid game overall. Peart did well as a run blocker but struggled in pass defense, allowing four pressures.

Meinerz and Powers put together great all-round games. Forsyth struggled in his first start, but overall his performance was pretty decent.

Roach and Allen remain standouts on defense, but Uwazurike was a pleasant surprise. He played 20 snaps and was in the backfield, causing disruption on most plays.

Franklin-Myers was solid, with some issues as a run defender. Jackson struggled every time he was on the field, and Jones had plenty of misses as he struggled against a weak Chargers interior offense.

The Chargers highlighted Bonitto's struggles as a run defender and successfully attacked him on the ground. Elliss and Cooper had a good game, although their influence may not have been felt.

The performances of the two linebackers were completely opposite. Strnad was quick and clean in coverage and strong against the run, while Barton looked slow and lost in coverage and struggled as a run defender.

The loss of Patrick Surtain II put the Broncos' secondary in a tough spot. Wallace stepped up and Moss had an up and down game. The problem was McMillian, who struggled as he was the other boundary corner who slipped into the slot.

Jones was a strong defender for the Broncos in all phases and deserved his contract. Locke continues to be a hit-or-miss player, and there were plenty of missed shots against the Chargers.
