The former Bills RB offers hilarious insight into what makes Josh Allen unique

It's hard not to like Josh Allen.

It's easy to say from the perspective of Western New York supporters, but the Buffalo Bills quarterback plays with such aggression and tenacity that it's difficult for even the neutral fan not to find him endearing. It's, for lack of a better term, fun to watch the 6-foot-1, 200-pound signal-caller methodically pick apart defenses before launching the ball 80 yards over their heads or leaping over linebackers on the way to the end zone. He plays football with an unwavering will to win with little regard for his personal safety, and while it's (mostly) worrying, we'd be lying if we said it wasn't fun.

What makes Allen's already endearing on-field exploits even more likeable is his off-field demeanor – he's just a guy. He likes memes. He plays Catan. He shakes hands with each of his pass catchers individually. He's like if the most laid-back guy at your lunch table was also the size of a linebacker and could throw the ball the length of the football field.

That's what makes him unique and, frankly, hard to dislike; It's hard to be mad at a guy who did an Andy Dwyer impression in the video for his team's 2024 schedule release. He approaches every single game as if he were a gladiator fighting for his life in the Colosseum, but carries himself off the field with the gravity of a cold.

This idea was recently brought up by former Buffalo running back Damien Harris during a performance in Washington State Scoop City Podcast with Dianna Russini and Chase Daniel; The retired ball carrier, who spent the 2023 season with the Bills, opened up about his former teammate, telling the hosts that Allen's demeanor off the field positions him for success on the field.

“Josh is literally the biggest, strongest, fastest toddler in the world,” Harris said. “He’s so playful. He loves to joke. He loves to have a good time. And when you're a guy that talented and can win games at the level of Josh Allen, relax and loosen up a little bit, that's how you have to ride.”

Harris continued to talk about the development of Buffalo's offense, which has been among the best in the NFL through three games as it has averaged a league-high 37.3 points per contest; He particularly highlighted the outstanding performance of third-year running back James Cook, noting that his breakthrough was further evidence of Allen's influence.

“Look at the emergence of Jimbo (James) Cook,” Harris said. “Josh Allen says: If I want to be the best version of myself, we have to get this guy going in the passing game and in the running game. “Joe Brady is hiring James Cook and that’s because Josh Allen wants to bring him in.”

No quarterback has played better than Allen through the first three weeks of the campaign, as the Buffalo signal-caller currently ranks second among quarterbacks who have thrown at least 50 passes in completion percentage (75%), second in passing percentage -Touchdowns (seven). and first touchdown overall (nine). He is the betting favorite to win NFL MVP honors this season. His off-field personality may not be what you'd expect from one of the best soccer players in the world, but it's worked for him so far and it doesn't look like his success will be slowing down any time soon.
