The Guardians name Alex Cobb as the Game 1 starter for ALCS vs. Yankees

The Cleveland Guardians named right-hander Alex Cobb as their starter for Game 1 of the American League Championship Series against the New York Yankees.

In 13 major league seasons, Cobb is 79-76 with a 3.84 ERA in 233 starts for the Tampa Bay Rays (2011-17), Baltimore Orioles (2018-20), Los Angeles Angels (2021) and San Francisco Giants (2022-2022). 23) and guards. He was an All-Star in 2023.

Cobb was traded from the Giants to the Guardians on July 30 while he was still on the injured list due to shoulder inflammation.
