The Jets get good news after Aaron Rodgers' injury scare

It seems only fitting that an Aaron Rodgers injury will be a subplot for the Jets hosting the Bills in prime time.

Head coach Robert Saleh confirmed Monday that the 40-year-old quarterback is dealing with a lower ankle sprain in his right foot, a diagnosis that Rodgers first made after Sunday's loss to the Vikings.

“All preliminary statements indicate that he will be fine,” Saleh said.

As a result, Rodgers is expected to play on Monday – with an additional day of rest – when the Bills visit MetLife Stadium. Remember, it was the Jets-Bills on “Monday Night Football” in East Rutherford in the first week of last season when Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles tendon in his left leg that ended his season after four snaps.

Rodgers will not be fully healthy for the second leg.

He limped the entire second half against the Vikings after getting his “foot caught in the pile” while attempting a 17-point comeback, resulting in a 23-17 loss.

On the same hit, Rodgers appeared to scream and reach for his left knee, which was already “a little swollen” early in Sunday's game.

He never missed a play because he broke away from the coaches on the sideline after a stalled Jets drive was given a second life by a roughing-the-punter penalty.

“I spoke to him on Sunday evening,” Saleh said. “He's fine. “Obviously he’s a little banged up, but he’s feeling good.”

Rodgers totaled 25 hits and eight sacks in consecutive losses to the Broncos and Vikings.

Reports continue to circulate that the Raiders are seeking a quick separation from WR Davante Adams, who is seeking a trade.

Adams would reportedly prefer a reunion with one of his former quarterbacks: Rodgers with the Jets or Derek Carr with the Saints.

According to a report from Fox Sports, the Raiders don't want to owe any of the $12.1 million to Adams this season despite having $25.6 million in salary cap space, compared to the Jets' $15.4 million .

CB Michael Carter II (hamstring injury) faces further testing and Saleh is expected to receive an update at his next media briefing on Thursday.

Carter played only one defensive snap after being injured during pregame warmups, giving Isaiah Oliver (44 snaps) and Ashtyn Davis (nine) more roles in the nickel package.

The Jets did not activate DL Leki Fotu (hamstring) from injured reserve for Sunday's game, even though he fully participated in two practices last week.

Fotu was injured during training camp and is awaiting his Jets and season debut.

“We talked about it, but we felt like he needed at least another week,” Saleh said. “I’m not saying this will be the week he competes, but hopefully he makes better progress.”

The Jets still have two weeks to decide whether to activate Fotu or shut him down for the season.
