The Jets' Jeff Ulbrich fumbled the challenge flag just before Aaron Rodgers threw a touchdown

In the second quarter of Sunday night's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Jets running back Breece Hall was stopped on a run just shy of the goal line, even though it certainly looked like he had crossed the finish line.

As the Jets lined up for their next game, coach Jeff Ulbrich could be seen trying to raise a challenge flag to encourage scrutiny of Hall's run. In his attempt to raise the red flag onto the field, he accidentally dropped it to the ground at his feet.

At that moment, Aaron Rodgers received the snap and managed to hit tight end Tyler Conklin with a short touchdown pass. Although Ulbrich's challenge flag eventually found its way onto the field, officials determined he had thrown it too late. Because of Rodgers' touchdown pass, it didn't prove to be all that consequential, although it was definitely a bizarre moment on the sideline.

Cris Collinsworth and Mike Tirico were completely taken aback by Ulbrich's botched flag throw and laughed at the gaffe.

Rodgers' touchdown pass effectively saved Ulbrich after he failed to raise the challenge flag in time. Had the Jets not scored in the following game, the perception of their new coach's comical mistake might have been very different.

Luckily, New York escaped with six points and was able to extend its lead over Pittsburgh to 15-6 after a successful two-point conversion.
