The Packers are signing kicker Brandon McManus and plan to use him immediately

The Brayden Narveson era is over. After six weeks and five missed field goals, the Green Bay Packers have moved on.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Packers have signed kicker Brandon McManus, who Schefter said is expected to “kick for them on Sunday” when they play the Houston Texans at Lambeau Field. McManus was brought to Green Bay for training on Tuesday after Narveson struggled for weeks.

McManus previously played for the Denver Broncos and Jacksonville Jaguars. He also signed with the Washington Commanders, who released him before he ever played a game for the team. The Commanders signed McManus to a one-year, $3.6 million contract last offseason, but released him in June when he was sued over sexual assault allegations related to a team flight while he was still a member of the Jaguars.

According to the lawsuit, McManus attempted to recruit at least five flight attendants to party with him on the flight and, according to ESPN, attempted to pay those flight attendants $100 to drink and dance with him. The two flight attendants suing McManus claim they were both “worn down” while serving meals on the plane. One of them also stated that McManus tried to kiss her on the flight.

The lawsuit was initially dismissed by Judge Michael S. Sharrit on the grounds that the women requested anonymity. Sharrit stated that the standard of an “exceptional case” was not met in the lawsuit, meaning the women had ten days to refile their lawsuit with their names if they wanted to pursue the lawsuit further. The amendment was submitted three days later.

The NFL will not punish McManus for the alleged incident because the league interviewed 30 people as part of its investigation and found insufficient evidence. However, Tony Buzbee, who represents the two women suing McManus, maintains that the league never contacted his clients. If Buzbee's name sounds familiar, it's because he also represents the two dozen women who have sued current Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson for sexual assault.

McManus made 253 of 311 field goals (81 percent) during his NFL career and played in 161 total games. To make room for the addition of McManus, the team will need to make a corresponding roster move on its 53-man roster, presumably releasing Narveson.
