The Packers face Will Levis, who looks like a young Brett Favre

When Aaron Rodgers succeeded Brett Favre in 2008, the question arose: “Is he the next Favre?”

In terms of the Hall of Fame game, yes, he was. But was he really the next incarnation of Farve's style of play? No. ABSOLUTELY not. Rodgers was and is very careful with the football. He is much more of a surgeon than a gunslinger.

So, in the 13-plus seasons since Favre last hung up his helmet, has anyone truly taken on the role of gunslinger? One could make a case for Patrick Mahomes, but his success shows he's not the stick of dynamite that Favre was, even after winning multiple MVP awards.

One could argue that the quarterback the Packers face today could be the heir to the throne: Will Levis, the quarterback of the Tennessee Titans.

You don't have to look far to find out why. Just look at how many times he lost the ball in just two games: five times! Three interceptions and two lost fumbles.

It's not just the turnovers that make him a gunslinger, and there were plenty of those in his college career. Levis has also compared himself to Favre.

Levis needs to remember this: Favre had more room to maneuver because he also threw a lot of touchdown passes and won games. Levis has thrown 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions in 11 NFL games. Those numbers may be a little reminiscent of a young Favre, but the Packers were an up-and-coming team back then. The jury is still out on the Titans.

Maybe Levis will figure it out. There are definitely similarities to Favre: He gets squashed by his head coach, just like young Favre did with Mike Holmgren. He also has a strong arm. He also has a great veteran receiver in DeAndre Hopkins, just like Favre had Sterling Sharpe.

This isn't to praise Levis either. Tennessee needs to continue to build around him. Adding Calvin Ridley helps, but there's still a long way to go.

Plus, teams aren't as patient with young quarterbacks as they once were. Levis will likely need to turn things around quickly or he could be benched midseason if the turnovers continue.

Chances are that will continue today, as the Packers defense has the most turnovers in the league, which will be crucial in a game where Packers backup quarterback Malik Willis will likely be back on the field.

Still, Levis has shown flashes of ability. It just depends on how consistently he can bring together enough good to overcome the bad.
